REPORTS TO Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or Chief Delivery Officer
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Vice President – Sales and Operations in the insurance industry bridges revenue generation with back-office operations
and policy lifecycle execution. The role ensures that ambitious sales targets are supported by robust underwriting, claims
management and regulatory compliance, while maintaining a high standard of post-sale customer satisfaction.
The primary objective is to drive profitable top-line revenue growth while ensuring seamless operational delivery,
regulatory compliance, efficient policy servicing and a positive customer experience throughout the policy lifecycle.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 Strategy and Targets: Design and execute multi-channel sales strategies across broker networks, direct and digital
channels, and corporate partnerships to achieve annual Gross Written Premium (GWP) and revenue goals.
 Team Building: Hire, coach and manage high-performing regional and product sales leads, fostering a performance-
driven culture and clear accountability.
 Key Accounts: Lead high-stakes negotiations and relationship management for enterprise, group and surplus lines
insurance clients.

OPERATIONS AND EXECUTION

 Policy Lifecycle Management: Oversee the transition from sale through underwriting, policy issuance, renewals and
endorsement workflows, ensuring continuity and service quality.
 Process Optimization: Identify and eliminate bottlenecks between sales pipelines and back-office operations to reduce
turnaround times (TAT) for policy issuance and claims handling.
 Regulatory Compliance: Ensure sales pitches, documentation and operational workflows comply with applicable
regional insurance regulations, including IRDAI requirements in India and relevant local statutory frameworks in other
jurisdictions.
 Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the primary liaison across Sales, Underwriting, Claims, Risk Management and
IT/CRM teams to align commercial objectives with operational capability and control requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

 Education: A Bachelor’s degree is mandatory. A degree in Finance or Insurance Management is preferred; a Master’s
degree or MBA is an added advantage.
 Experience: 15+ years of experience in the insurance sector, with a proven track record across commercial or retail
sales leadership and operational or process management.

 Industry Knowledge: Deep familiarity with insurance products, including Life, Health or Property & Casualty
(P&C)/Surplus Lines, along with risk assessment and applicable regulatory compliance.
 Technical Acumen: Proficiency in CRM platforms such as Salesforce and familiarity with automated workflow platforms
and insurtech tools.
 Core Competencies: Strong financial literacy, excellent negotiation skills, sound judgement, calm crisis-management
capability and effective cross-functional leadership.
