MANAGER – BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (CARBON MARKETS)

As part of this expansion, company is strengthening and scaling its Carbon Credits and I-RECs portfolio through project origination, registration, issuance, and trading across diverse renewable energy and sustainability project types.
This role is critical to driving business development, client acquisition, partnerships, and market expansion for Carbon Credits and I-RECs registration services.

• Location: Ahmedabad (Gujarat)
• Mode of Working: Work-from-Office with travel for client meetings and industry events
Educational Qualification & Criteria
Must: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline
Preferred: Master’s degree / Post-graduate qualification in Business Administration (MBA – Marketing / Strategy / Sustainability), Sustainability Management, Climate Policy, Environmental Management, or allied fields
Experience
• 8-10 years of experience in Business Development, Sales, or Strategic Growth roles within Carbon Markets or Sustainability domains
• Proven experience in carbon credits, carbon neutrality services, ESG advisory, or environmental markets
• Demonstrated capability in lead generation, deal structuring, and business closure
• Experience working with carbon standards such as VERRA, Gold Standard (GS), GCC, etc.
• Familiarity with carbon registries and carbon credit trading processes
• Experience in CRM tools, MIS reporting, and sales pipeline management
• Ability to independently manage the business development pipeline/sheet and mentor junior team members

• Strong understanding of carbon credit markets, GHG accounting, and sustainability frameworks
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills
• Strategic mindset with ability to structure business models and go-to-market strategies
• Result-oriented, with a consistent track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Willingness to travel for client engagements and industry events
Key Job Responsibilities
Business Development & Lead Generation:
• Identify and develop new business opportunities in carbon credit project management and carbon
neutrality services
• Research and identify prospective clients across multiple sectors
• Generate and qualify leads, and convert them into long-term business relationships
• Ensure timely follow-up and closure of business leads
Client Engagement & Consultative Selling:
• Engage with clients to understand sustainability goals, compliance requirements, and decarbonization needs
• Present company’s carbon market offerings as tailored, value-driven solutions
• Guide clients on adoption of carbon reduction, offsetting, and neutrality strategies
• Build and maintain strong relationships with corporates, developers, consultants, and partners
Proposal Development & Deal Structuring:
• Coordinate with internal technical and sustainability teams for customized proposals
• Support pricing strategy, budgeting, and financial viability analysis of projects
• Develop commercially viable and technically sound proposals aligned with client objectives
Market Intelligence & Strategy:
• Track market trends, regulatory developments, and innovations in carbon markets
• Provide strategic insights to clients and internal stakeholders
• Strategize business models with Department Head
• Develop and execute go-to-market strategies aligned with company vision
Sales Reporting & MIS:
• Maintain accurate MIS and CRM records of leads, client interactions, and deal progress
• Track sales performance against revenue targets and report regularly
• Build feedback loops from client engagements to improve service offerings
Internal Coordination:
• Work closely with project managers, carbon accounting teams, and sustainability experts
• Ensure seamless handover of projects after business closure
• Support long-term client satisfaction and repeat business
