Job Description:

ABOUT SPV ENERGY AND PROJECTS PVT LTD

SPV Energy and Projects Pvt Ltd is building India's first integrated clean energy intelligence platform. SPV

Solutions is the EPC and C&I energy supply arm — signing and executing rooftop and ground-mount solar PPAs

with industrial and commercial clients across Northeast India, East India, and in time, Southeast Asia. We are

now hiring a Solar Engineer who will own the full C&I lifecycle: from walking a site for the first time to handing over

a commissioned plant.

COMPENSATION DETAILS:-

1- Base Salary: ₹25,000–₹40,000 per month (₹3–4.8 Lakh per annum)
2- Performance Bonus: Up to 15% of base, linked to projects commissioned and yield performance vs. guarantee
3- Location: Kolkata HQ with regular field travel — NE India and East India industrial corridors
4- Reporting To: COO (Founder until COO is hired)

ROLE:- Solar Engineer

THE ROLE

This is a front-to-back execution role. You will visit commercial and industrial sites, assess whether a solar

opportunity is real or not, size the system correctly, design the solution, manage the project through to

commissioning, and hand it over to O&M. You are the person who bridges sales and delivery — your site

assessment determines whether SPV bids, and your execution quality determines whether the client renews and

refers.

Expect to be on-site regularly across Kolkata, Northeast India, and East India industrial corridors. This is not a

desk job — roughly 50–60% of your time will be at client sites or project locations.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

Phase 1 — Site Assessment & Feasibility

  • Visit prospective C&I client sites (factories, warehouses, commercial buildings, institutions) and conduct

structured technical assessments

  • Evaluate roof condition, structural integrity, shading, orientation, and available area for rooftop installations;

assess ground conditions and available land for ground-mount systems

  • Audit the client's electricity consumption — analyse 12 months of bills, understand load profiles, peak

demand, ToD patterns, sanctioned load, and contract demand

  • Determine whether the stated requirement is technically viable and commercially real — flag oversized

expectations, structural constraints, or grid limitations that would make a project unviable

  • Estimate system size accurately: AC/DC capacity, generation yield (P50/P90), specific generation

(kWh/kWp), and projected savings against current tariff

  • Prepare a clear, one-page technical feasibility summary for internal go/no-go decision — numbers only, no

fluff

Phase 2 — Design & Proposal

  • Produce detailed system design: module layout, string configuration, inverter sizing, cable sizing, single-line

diagram, and shadow analysis using PVsyst or equivalent

  • Specify Bill of Materials — modules, inverters, mounting structures, cables, SCADA/monitoring, protection

equipment

  • Prepare energy yield estimates and financial model inputs: generation, export/banking assumptions,

applicable open access charges, wheeling charges, cross-subsidy surcharge

  • Support the commercial team in structuring PPA terms — tariff, tenure, escalation, performance guarantees

— with technically grounded inputs• Ensure all designs comply with CEIG/local electrical inspector norms, DISCOM grid connectivity

requirements, and relevant IS standards

Phase 3 — Project Execution

  • Manage EPC execution end-to-end once PPA is signed: procurement, civil works, electrical installation,

testing and commissioning

  • Coordinate with vendors, sub-contractors, and the client's facility team — keep the project on schedule and

within budget

  • Handle all statutory approvals: DISCOM net metering / open access application, CEIG inspection, electrical

inspector sign-off, fire NOC where required

  • Track project milestones, flag risks early, and report status clearly to the COO and Founder
  • Commission the plant: string testing, insulation resistance, polarity checks, inverter commissioning, SCADA

integration, and generation verification against design yield

Phase 4 — Handover & O&M

  • Prepare as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and warranty documentation for client handover
  • Set up remote monitoring (SCADA/portal access) and train the client's facility team on basic operations
  • Conduct performance reviews in the first 3–6 months post-commissioning and flag underperformance

against PPA guarantee

  • Ensure generation data feeds correctly into SPV Intelligence's monitoring platform

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Non-Negotiable

  • 3–7 years of experience in solar EPC, specifically C&I rooftop or ground-mount projects — not just utility

scale construction management

  • Proficiency in PVsyst (or equivalent: Helioscope, PVSol, Homer) for energy yield simulation and system

design

  • Hands-on experience with DISCOM net metering applications and/or open access regulatory process in at

least one Indian state

  • Ability to read and interpret electricity bills, load data, and demand profiles — this is core to the assessment

function

  • Working knowledge of IS standards for solar PV systems (IS 16077, IS 13947), CEA regulations, and CEIG

inspection requirements

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience in Northeast or East India — familiarity with DISCOM processes in West Bengal, Assam,

Mizoram, Odisha, or Andhra Pradesh

  • Exposure to open access solar for industrial clients — understanding of wheeling charges, banking

charges, cross-subsidy surcharge, and SLDC scheduling

  • Experience with hybrid systems (solar + BESS) and basic knowledge of battery integration at C&I scale
  • CBIP certification, BEE Energy Auditor, or equivalent electrical qualification

The Person

  • Honest assessor — able to tell a client (and internally) that a site does not work, rather than forcing a bad

project through to hit a pipeline number

  • Execution-oriented — tracks every open item, follows up without being asked, does not let approvals or

vendors sit idle

  • Can communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders: factory owners, CFOs, and

facility managers who just want to know the savings number

  • Comfortable with field conditions — rooftop inspections, industrial plant environments, and project sites in

hilly Northeast terrain
