Tool & Cutter Operator (Conventional)

Job Description:

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Operate conventional tool and cutter grinding machines to sharpen and manufacture cutting tools.

• Perform grinding of drills, end mills, reamers, cutters, and other precision tools.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and tool specifications.

• Set up machines, select grinding wheels, and adjust parameters for accurate grinding operations.

• Ensure proper tool geometry, sharpness, and dimensional accuracy.

• Inspect finished tools using precision measuring instruments and gauges.

• Maintain proper tool records and grinding parameters.

• Perform routine machine maintenance and wheel dressing.

• Ensure cleanliness and safety in the tool room and machine area.

• Coordinate with production and CNC operators to ensure availability of properly maintained cutting tools.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Hands-on experience in tool and cutter grinding operations (conventional machines).

• Knowledge of cutting tool geometry and sharpening techniques.

• Ability to read technical drawings and tool specifications.

• Familiarity with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.

• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and tool performance.

• Ability to work in a tool room or manufacturing environment.

Educational Qualification

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Tool & Die Making / Machinist or equivalent technical qualification.
