Junior Business Analyst (Benefits Platform Analyst)
Role Summary
The Junior Business Analyst provides essential support to the Senior and Lead BAs, focusing
on accelerating the requirements pipeline for our benefits platform. You will translate
foundational business needs, defects, and documentation gaps into high-quality user stories.
You will act as the specialist for benefits data and story readiness, ensuring the development
and testing teams maintain a deep, actionable backlog of work.
Key Responsibilities
A. Benefits-Specific Story Curation
● User Story Creation: Write clear, concise User Stories and comprehensive Acceptance
Criteria (using Gherkin syntax) for defects, maintenance work, and smaller feature
enhancements.
● Benefits Data Sourcing: Serve as the primary owner for gathering and documenting static
benefits reference data, test data sets, and regulatory samples required for story
completion.
● Documentation Quality: Own the organization and content of the BA Knowledge Base
(Confluence). Ensure process flows and benefit logic definitions are accurate and current
to support the team's needs.
B. Requirements Support & Backlog Hygiene
● Backlog Management: Maintain the health and hygiene of the JIRA backlog by accurately
categorizing stories, linking them to epics, and facilitating the definition of estimates with
the team.
● Stakeholder Clarification: Act as the first point of contact for simple clarification questions
from developers and QA regarding accepted requirements, escalating complex issues to
the Senior BA.
Testing Support: Collaborate closely with the QA team to ensure test cases fully cover
the acceptance criteria. Assist with creating simple SQL queries to pull specific test data.
C. Learning & Compliance
● Domain Immersion: Quickly develop a deep working understanding of our platform's
core eligibility and claims process logic as defined by the Senior BA.
● Compliance Review: Assist the Senior BA in reviewing documentation to ensure all
requirements related to PHI handling and standard HIPAA mandates are included.
Required Qualifications
● Experience: 1–3 years of experience as an Analyst or Specialist within the US
Healthcare or Benefits Administration domain.
● Domain Exposure (Mandatory): Strong foundational knowledge of US Healthcare
concepts, including basic understanding of Plan Design (copays, deductibles) and
eligibility rules.
● Technical Skills: Working proficiency in JIRA and Confluence. Exposure to basic SQL
(ability to read simple queries or run pre-written queries) is highly valued.
● Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized, and a proactive learner
