Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Commissioning with proven expertise in traction elevators powered by VVVF drive systems. The role involves electrical commissioning, troubleshooting, modification work, and technical supervision of elevator installations and upgrades, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance at every stage.

The ideal candidate must have strong site experience in the elevator industry, sound understanding of modern traction control systems, and the ability to independently handle commissioning and fault-resolution activities.

Key Responsibilities

Commissioning & Troubleshooting
• Commission traction elevators with VVVF drive control
• Conduct electrical testing, inspection, and final commissioning
• Troubleshoot electrical faults during installation and after handover
• Attend breakdowns and provide effective on-site solutions

Drive, Motor & Control Systems
• Work on VVVF AC drive–based elevator control systems
• Handle permanent magnet traction motors (compact gearless category)
• Manage control panels, safety circuits, interlocks, sensors, encoders, and limit switches
• Ensure correct wiring, termination, earthing, and power distribution

Call System & Electrical Logic
• Handle BCD-based COP and LOP call registration systems
• Diagnose call-holding, signal, and communication-related issues
• Ensure stable and reliable call registration across all floors

Modification & Modernization Works
• Execute electrical modification / retrofit jobs on existing elevators
• Support controller upgrades, drive replacement, rewiring, and safety enhancements
• Analyze legacy system issues and implement optimized electrical solutions

Site Supervision & Coordination
• Supervise electrical installation and commissioning activities at site
• Coordinate with mechanical teams, project engineers, vendors, and clients
• Ensure smooth project handover with complete electrical compliance
• Provide technical support to service teams when required

Safety, Quality & Compliance
• Ensure compliance with electrical standards, lift safety norms, and statutory regulations
• Follow company SOPs, safety procedures, and quality benchmarks
• Maintain proper documentation for commissioning and handover

Team Development
• Train and mentor junior engineers and technicians
• Guide site teams on safety practices, troubleshooting methods, and system understanding

Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum 5 years of compulsory experience in the elevator industry
• Strong hands-on experience in:
• Traction elevators
• VVVF drive–based control systems
• Electrical commissioning and troubleshooting
• Sound knowledge of electrical panels, relays, contactors, drives, and protection systems
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
• Experience in elevator modification / modernization projects is preferred
• Willingness to travel within and outside Kolkata
