Planning Engineer (Civil)
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Scheduling
Develop, maintain, and update the Master Project Schedule using industry-standard software
Break down projects into manageable phases, activities, and milestones (WBS) with accurate resource and duration estimates.
Prepare and circulate weekly/monthly look-ahead schedules to site teams and subcontractors, ensuring critical path activities are clearly identified and prioritized.
Develop Recovery Schedules as needed to mitigate delays and bring the project back on track.
Coordination & Documentation
Manage the entire process of planning and coordinating construction drawings between the in-house design team, external consultants, and site execution teams.
Act as the primary liaison for coordinating with external consultants (Architects, Structural Designers, MEP, etc.) for timely delivery and resolution of design-related issues.
Responsible for the timely submission of drawings and necessary documents for statutory sanctions/approvals from relevant authorities.
Ensure all necessary technical clarifications and drawing approvals are secured to maintain work continuity at the site.
Site Execution & Progress Management
Conduct site work coordination with Project Managers, Site Engineers, and subcontractors to monitor adherence to the planned schedule.
Implement and manage a robust Progress Measurement System and regularly track the actual physical and financial progress against the planned schedule
Prepare comprehensive Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Progress Reports for management and stakeholders, highlighting key achievements, deviations, and anticipated roadblocks.
Conduct Delay Analysis and propose effective corrective actions or mitigating strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in planning and scheduling for civil construction projects.
Technical Proficiency: Expert level proficiency in project planning Strong command of MS Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis and reporting.
Domain Knowledge: Solid understanding of construction methodologies, processes, and relevant local building codes and submission procedures in the Bantala/Kolkata region is a plus.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills for effective coordination with diverse teams, consultants, and authorities. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
