Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Purchase Manager to manage our procurement operations, ensure cost-effective sourcing, and maintain efficient purchasing processes aligned with project timelines and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

      1. Vendor Management

  • Onboarding new suppliers after stringent vendor evaluation and maintain a preferred vendor list.
  • Conduct supplier audits and ensure compliance with company quality and safety standards.
  • Evaluate supplier performance (price, quality, delivery, reliability).
  • Resolve vendor disputes and manage relationships to support business continuity.
  1. Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with production and project requirements for just in time procurement.
  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors for raw materials (plates, beams, channels, pipes, welding consumables, casting, forging, bearing, lubricant etc.) and components for heavy equipments.
  • Negotiate long-term supply agreements to ensure cost optimization, quality, and timely delivery.
  1. Material Planning & Cost Control
  • Coordinate with Production, Planning, and Projects teams to forecast material requirements.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Monitor procurement budgets, analyze cost variance, and achieve annual cost-saving targets.
  1. Documentation & Compliance
  • Oversee procurement documentation (POs, contracts, delivery schedules etc.) in SAP-MM module.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, import/export, and company procurement policies.
  • Liaise with finance for timely vendor payments and reconciliations.
  1. Team Leadership & Coordination
  • Lead and mentor a team of purchase executives and officers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, planning and Quality teams.
  • Drive process improvements and implement best practices in procurement systems.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical / Production Engineering/Industrial Engineering/ Metallurgical Engineering/ Masters Degree in Commerce./ MBA in Supply Chain / Materials Management preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 12–15 years of experience in procurement within heavy fabrication, structural steel, or capital equipment manufacturing industries.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of steel grades, fabrication processes, and mechanical components.
    • Familiarity with SAP(MM-Module) S4 HANAbhi
    • Sound knowledge of logistics, import/export documentation, and vendor evaluation.
