Job Description:

About the Role:

We are hiring an experienced and passionate Agronomist for our international client based in The Gambia, West Africa. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing agricultural operations, improving crop productivity, implementing sustainable farming practices, and guiding local teams on modern agronomy techniques.

This is a key role for professionals seeking an international exposure and the opportunity to contribute to large-scale agricultural projects in a growing African economy.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and implement crop production strategies to enhance yield and soil health.

  • Conduct soil, water, and crop analysis and recommend suitable agronomic practices.

  • Manage and monitor irrigation systems, pest control, and fertilizer programs.

  • Provide technical guidance and training to local farm managers and field staff.

  • Evaluate and introduce modern agricultural technologies and sustainable methods.

  • Work closely with the management team to ensure compliance with international quality and environmental standards.

  • Prepare periodic reports on crop performance, resource utilization, and productivity improvement.

  • Liaise with R&D, procurement, and supply chain teams for effective farm-to-market coordination.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agriculture Science, or Crop Science.

  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in large-scale farming or agribusiness operations.

  • Proven expertise in tropical or semi-tropical crop management.

  • Hands-on experience with irrigation systems, soil fertility management, and pest control.

  • Strong analytical, planning, and leadership skills.

  • Prior international or Africa-based experience will be a strong advantage.

  • Excellent communication skills in English (French knowledge is a plus).

  • Ability to work in multicultural environments and rural setups.
