Job Description:

About the Role:

We are hiring a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant for our international client based in The Gambia, West Africa. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in international accounting standards (IFRS/US GAAP), managing multi-currency transactions, and handling end-to-end accounting operations for overseas entities.

This is an excellent opportunity for finance professionals looking to work in a global environment with exposure to international accounting and cross-border financial management.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee daily accounting operations in compliance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS/US GAAP).

  • Maintain accurate books of accounts, including accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.

  • Handle foreign currency transactions, reconciliations, and cash flow statements.

  • Coordinate with global finance teams, auditors, and consultants to ensure financial compliance.

  • Manage tax filings, statutory reporting, and adherence to local as well as international financial regulations.

  • Support budgeting, cost control, and variance analysis activities.

  • Implement and maintain effective internal controls and accounting systems.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Commerce, or Finance.

  • Professional certification such as CA, CPA, or ACCA preferred.

  • 5–10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 3+ years in international accounting.

  • Strong understanding of IFRS / US GAAP and global accounting procedures.

  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Tally, Xero, or SAP.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) in English.

  • Experience working with multinational or Africa-based organizations will be an added advantage.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
