Deputy General Manager – Purchase and Supply Chain
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Strategic Sourcing:
• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for capital equipment, raw materials, and bought-
out items used in sugar plant manufacturing and installation.
• Identify, evaluate, and manage a network of domestic and international vendors and
suppliers.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, terms, and delivery schedules to ensure cost-effective
procurement aligned with project timelines.
Project-Based Procurement Planning:
• Collaborate with project engineering, production, and project management teams to
understand bill of materials (BOM), delivery schedules, and site requirements.
• Ensure procurement aligns with engineering designs, project schedules, and installation
timelines.
• Monitor procurement KPIs (lead time, cost variance, vendor performance) across multiple
projects.
Inventory and Material Management:
• Manage inventory levels across central stores and project sites to avoid overstocking or
material shortages.
• Optimize warehouse operations and implement best practices in material handling and
storage.
• Coordinate material dispatches to project sites and ensure just-in-time (JIT) deliveries.
Logistics & Supply Chain Coordination:
• Oversee domestic and international logistics, including import/export documentation,
freight forwarding, and transportation.
• Manage third-party logistics partners and ensure compliance with statutory and
regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership & Development:
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team across purchase, stores, and logistics
functions.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, cost efficiency, and strong supplier
relationships.
• Developing relation with old and new vendors.
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Industrial Engineering or related field;
MBA in Supply Chain / Operations preferred.
• Minimum 20+ plus years of experience in purchase and supply chain management,&
Vendor Development preferably in sugar equipment manufacturing.
• Experience in managing team of 10+ People.
• Proven experience in handling procurement and supply chain for turnkey projects
(preferably in the sugar industries).
• Strong negotiation, vendor development, and contract management skills.
• Proficiency in ERP systems.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
Preferred Skills
• Understanding of mechanical/electromechanical equipment used in sugar plants (boilers,
turbines, mill housings, etc.)
• Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to industrial procurement and logistics.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• Ready to travel to visit multiple projects.
